Abstract:

There are many projects to help reform maternity care in the former Soviet Union (FSU). Doctors and other health workers are visiting, conducting research in and offering clinical assistance to many such countries. Some understanding of the practices in these regions will help them prepare for, and plan, maternity reforms. This paper outlines key features of the maternity care systems in place in the FSU.
