Summary. We briefly review the major contribution of biometrics to genetics over the last century (population genetic models, familial correlations, segregation analysis, and gene mapping) and current areas of active research and then speculate about what problems will be tackled in the next century.Keywords: Familial correlations; Gene mapping; Population genetic models; Segregation analysis
